Glenview Park Golf Club

Teaching Professional

Michael Stone -  In 2007, the Glenview Park Golf Club welcomed Mike Stone as the club's new golf pro.  Mike's unique approach to the game separates him from his peers and is the reason why so many if his students have gone on to participate in such prestigious events as the Illinois Open, the US Kids World Tournament at Pinehurst, as well as other tournaments across the United States.

Mike's philosophy is simple yet is his strength as an instructor...connecting with the student and simplifying the game of golf are the key components to his teaching style that drives his students to excel.  "To become a more consistent player starts with a strong understanding of the basic pre-swing fundamentals which is top on my priority list whether a beginner or a low handicapper," says Stone.

"Pre-swing fundamentals are grip, stance, posture, ball position, and most importantly alignment.  Once pre-swing fundamentals are established it is time to move onto swing fundamentals.  The key here is to keep it simple and help the student create a swing that they can maintain and fits their physical abilities.  With instruction, everybody can create a consistent swing, whatever his or her age and physical ability, which will lower your scores and make you a more consistent golfer."
